I became interested in the topic of admissions when my eldest son was preparing for college.  Much of the information he received seemed counterintuitive and was often contradictory. I also began to consider the changing expectations of what higher education should be, and that inquiry led me to pursue a Certificate in College Access Counseling through the the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies at Rice University.   I owe my own undergraduate experience to a chance meeting with an admissions representative from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College (Lynchburg, VA) who was visiting my high school.  I had never heard of the college or even been to Virginia, but she encouraged me to consider possibilities beyond the world I knew.  I have always thrived on helping others discover their strengths,  and I like to share that sense of discovery with students embarking on their own college journey.
